Tizen OS based samsung smartphone to be released

We won't likely see a Tizen-based Galaxy flagship anytime soon

No time soon though, but after seeing considerable success with Android, the Korean smartphone giant is going to test new waters with the Linux based Tizen OS.According to Daily Yomiuri, Samsung will launch its first Tizen-based smartphone sometime in 2013. Details are scant beyond that, but Samsung (along with Intel) is part of the platform's Technical Steering Group. The open-source Tizen is Linux-based, and a member of the Linux Foundation.

Expectations for samsung to go all out for marketing the Tizen device, but with a windows 8 based device set , and with Google collaborating with Motorola for the new Nexus device, clearly, both are keeping themselves with alternatives to each other. Samsung could potentially , with a long term investment in Tizen, its third party app support building, move on from Android all together, though of course that ain't happening anywhere in 2013. Of course that is if Samsung feels that its galaxy brand is bigger than the android OS powering it.

These, however, are potential long-term strategies. In the near-term, expect to see a low-to-mid range Tizen-powered Samsung handset. It could make an appearance at the Mobile World Congress in February, but no dates are confirmed. Samsung's Galaxy S IV, meanwhile, should be exactly what you'd expect: a high-end Android phone chock-full of Google apps.
