The Trinity APU from AMD
is the latest update to the AMD APU offering. Last year it was Llano
with four processor cores and a Radeon GPU on the same die, this year
the Trinity offering takes that even further with the latest Piledriver
architecture, improved graphics, speedier performance and plenty more.
Trinity has been optimised for Windows 8, launching any minute now,
and has been designed to show up to a 56 percent increase un visual
performance, delivery over 12 hours of resting battery life, and
includes the new AMD Turbo Core 3.0 technology.
The Radeon HD 7000 series GPU is fully integrated into the Trinity-powered APU and is all about the gamer. AMD has always been about the gamer really, so this feature should come as no surprise. Paired with the Piledriver x86 cores, of which there are up to four, this means you are looking at potential performance increase of 56% compared to the previous generation.
The Piledriver x86 core is also another step up on the previous Bulldozer core (you have got to love these names) and boasts the same improvements as its predecessor plus some. The third-generation AMD Turbo Core technology shifts the power between the CPU and the GPU according to what you’re asking it to do, which means that the speed of your performance is noticeably faster and more efficient.
All these tweaks and pokes have resulted in AMD’s Trinity delivering longer battery life, better performance, and gaming brilliance. I’ve always had a soft spot for AMD and all my earlier machines, including Ye Olde Faithful I happen to be typing on today, have AMD architecture.
